Zeitungen sind Träger von Informationen. Mit Worten und Bildern werden Informationen verbreitet. Der Informationsfluss gestaltet sich immer schneller – besonders aufgrund von Social Media werden Infos schnell vermittelt und reproduziert. Nachteil daran ist, dass diese Informationen oftmals unreflektiert auf Twitter, Facebook & Co verbreitet werden. So schleichen sich auch immer wieder Fakenews und Fakebilder ein.
Informationen bestehen aus Zeichen, die der Iterabilität unterstehen. Bereits Jacques Derrida wies auf die iterative Struktur des Zeichens hin, indem er die Möglkichkeit des Zeichens beschreibt, mit jedem gegebenen Kontext brechend unendlich viele neue Kontexte zu erzeugen. Durch Wiederholung werden Begriffe und Bezeichnungen erzeugt, es kann dabei auch zu Verschiebungen, zu Resignifikationen kommen. De facto kann sich sowohl der Signifikant, als auch der Signifikat verändern. Bei zusammengeknülltem oder verbranntem Papier z. B. verändert sich der abgedruckte Text.
Newspapers are carriers of informations. Information is disseminated with words and pictures. The flow of information is becoming faster and faster – especially due to social media, information is quickly communicated and reproduced. Disadvantage of this is that this information is often spread without reflection on Twitter, Facebook & Co. This is how Fakenews and Fakepictures creep in again and again.
Information consists of signs that are subject to iterability. Already Jacques Derrida pointed out the iterative structure of the sign by describing the ability of the sign to create an infinite number of new contexts with each given context. By repetition, terms and designations are generated, it can also lead to shifts, to resignifications. In fact, both the signifier and the signified can change. For crumpled or burned paper for example the printed text changes.

WORDING I 9 S/W-Fotografien, 1998, 30 x 45 cm Zusammengeknülltes Zeitungspapier wurde analog fotografiert. Durch das Zusammenknüllen entsteht ein neuer Text. 9 b/w-photos, 1998, 11 3/4'' x 17 3/4'' Bundled newspapert was photographed in a analogue way. The crumpling creates a new text.

 BLACK ON WHITE 9 Objekte, verformte, schwarze Metallblätter, 2018 Ausgehend von dem zerknüllten Zeitungspapier sind schwarze zerknüllte Objekte entstanden. Von der Struktur her wirken diese Objekte wie Papier. Schwarz verweist auf Schwärzen von Texten. Dadurch werden Textstellen unleserlich gemacht. Was passiert, wenn der gesamte Text schwarz ist? Auslöschung von Text/Kultur? Präsentiert werden diese Objekte auf weißem Untergrund.

Black refers to blackening of texts. This makes text passages unreadable. What happens if the entire text is black? Extinction of text/culture? These objects are presented on a white background. 
BURNT 9 Bilder, verbranntes Zeitungspapier, 2018, 30 x 40 cm Das Verbrennen von Zeitungspapier löscht nicht den Text aus. Schwarz auf Schwarz bleiben die Worte erhalten. Auch hier erfolgt durch das Zerknüllen eine Neuanordnung des Textes. Fragil bleibt der Text aber erhalten. An manchen Stellen ist das Papier nicht verbrannt. Diese Serie verweist auch auf Bücherverbrennungen, eine Zensur im Kontext des Nationalsozialismus. 9 pictures, burnt newspaper, 2018, 11 3/4'' x 15 3/4'' Burning newspaper does not erase the text. Black on black, the words are preserved. Again, by crumpling a rearrangement of the text. Fragile but the text is preserved. In some places the paper is not burnt. This series also refers to book burnings, a censorship in the context of National Socialism.
